STDs and Sexual Function Problems
Intro
Sexually transmitted diseases are passed from one person to another during unprotected sex. While the majority can be treated and cured, it’s vital that they are detected as soon as possible to prevent any further damage. At Blue Tree Clinics, we offer treatment that covers a range of STDs, as well as sexual function problems, to restore you back to optimum sexual health.
Chlamydia
Chlamydia is one of the most common STDs and, as many people do not experience symptoms, it can easily go undetected. Symptoms for women include pain or a burning sensation when urinating, vaginal discharge and pain in the lower abdomen during or after sex.
At Blue Tree Clinics, we can test for chlamydia by taking a urine sample or swab of the affected area. This sexually transmitted disease can be treated with a course of antibiotics, but it can result in severe health problems, such as infertility, if not treated.
Genital Herpes
Caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), genital herpes is a common infection which is the same virus that causes cold sores. You will typically experience symptoms a few days after coming into contact with the virus, which results in small and painful blisters and sores developing, which can tingle and itch. A common symptom of genital herpes is painful urination.
While the virus can be controlled with antiviral medication, there is no cure for genital herpes. The virus remains dormant, and particular triggers can cause the blisters to flare up again.
Gonorrhea
Gonorrhea is a bacterial STI which is passed on during sex. Symptoms include pain or a burning sensation when urinating, a vaginal discharge (often watery, yellow or green) or pain in the lower abdomen during or after sex. Bleeding can occur during or after sex or between periods, and can sometimes cause heavy periods.
At Blue Tree Clinics, we test for gonorrhea by taking a urine sample or swab from the affected area. This sexually transmitted disease can be treated with a course of antibiotics, but it can result in severe health problems, such as infertility, if not treated.
HIV
HIV is a sexually transmitted disease which can be passed on through unprotected sex or by coming into contact with infected blood, such as sharing needles for drug or steroid use. HIV results in the weakening of your immune system, which makes it harder to fight off infections and diseases.
Our experts can test for HIV with a simple blood test. While there is no cure for HIV, there are treatments that allow those with the virus to lead long and healthy lives.
Sexual Function Problems
Here at Blue Tree Clinics, we can assist with a range of sexual function problems, both psychological and medical. Whether you’re suffering from a loss of desire, orgasm problems or pain during sex, our knowledgeable team endeavour to resolve any issue you may be facing in a confidential and considerate manner.
Sexual function problems can occur for a variety of reasons. For example, a woman may experience lack of desire during pregnancy, after having a baby, or times of stress, and pain during sex due to vaginismus or menopause. Some find it difficult to orgasm due to mood disorders such as depression or previous traumatic sexual experiences.
At Blue Tree Clinics, we offer a range of treatments and services to assist with all of your sexual function concerns. This first begins with a consultation to determine what the issue is and how best we can treat it, which includes questions about your medical, social and sexual history. We can then assist further by offering a range of options, such as psychosexual therapy, sex education and creams for menopause, as well as vaginal trainers for vaginismus.
To find out more about how we can assist with your sexual function concerns, contact our helpful team, who will be happy to discuss it further.
